The Zinzania Acquatica wild rice grasses for The Room were gathered along a tributary of the Powder River for its first installation at the UCross Foundation in Wyoming. Shipped to Rhode Island, the densely woven garlands of grass sweeping over chair and table forms create a magic carpet that contrasts to the manicured lawn, challenging the assumption that nature is exterior to our daily existence, and encourage viewers to consider how the wild grasses offer an ecologically-attuned, psychological sanctuary.
