The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) known as the University for Indigenous Creative Excellence, was founded in1962 and is the only institution of its kind in the world with a vision “to be the premier educational institution elevating Indigenous arts and cultures across the globe.” Through its Indigenous-centered curricula IAIA provides innovative pedagogy, critical inquiry, and intercultural exchange, including Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) that promotes tribal sovereignty and self-determination.
